Industries we support

Different industries. The same discipline.

Every industry has its own specifications, pressures and failure modes. We bring the right standards and the right checks to each one.

Data centres

Hyperscale and colocation builds, where large steel frames carry intumescent fire protection and fast programmes leave no room for rework.

We inspect primers, intumescent build and topcoats against the fire engineer's schedule, keep damage and repairs under control across the programme, and hand over records that stand up to scrutiny. Our passive fire protection experience covers the coating manufacturer's side as well as the site.

Typical challenges

  • Intumescent film thickness and fire certification
  • Fast-track programmes with many trades on site
  • Site damage and repairs before handover
  • Complete records for the handover pack

Nuclear

Nuclear new build and plant support, where traceability and hold-point discipline are non-negotiable.

Our lead inspector has inspected steelwork for the Hinkley Point C nuclear project. With Sizewell C under construction on the Suffolk coast, we can support supply-chain fabricators and coaters across the region with the same discipline.

Typical challenges

  • Strict inspection and test plans
  • Full traceability of materials and results
  • Qualified inspectors at every hold point
  • Extensive documentation reviews

Energy and utilities

Power generation, substations, water and wastewater assets, where coatings are often renewed inside short planned outages.

We assess existing coatings, help specify maintenance systems that suit the asset and the outage, and inspect the work so it is right first time inside the window.

Typical challenges

  • Short outage and shutdown windows
  • Assessing the condition of existing coatings
  • Immersion and wet-service conditions
  • Asset-owner specifications and approvals

Infrastructure projects

Rail, transport and public infrastructure, where long design lives and difficult access make every coating decision expensive to get wrong.

We help fabricators and contractors meet demanding infrastructure specifications, inspect at shop and site hold points, and assess existing coatings to plan maintenance that lasts.

Typical challenges

  • Long design lives and maintenance access
  • Client-specific specifications
  • Possessions and night-time working windows
  • Compatibility of repair systems

Bridges and highway structures

Steel bridges, gantries and highway structures, protected for decades and often repainted under traffic management.

We review specifications, inspect surface preparation and film build at every hold point, and assess existing coatings so maintenance is planned on evidence rather than guesswork.

Typical challenges

  • Highway and rail authority specifications
  • Maintenance painting under traffic management
  • Condition assessment of existing coatings
  • Edges, welds and bolts on complex details

Marine and offshore

Offshore wind, port infrastructure and marine structures in the harshest corrosivity categories, from the Haven ports to the offshore wind hubs.

We specify and inspect high-performance systems for marine exposure, control salt contamination and climate at application, and plan maintenance painting around the weather.

Typical challenges

  • C5 and CX environments and immersion
  • NORSOK M-501 and offshore specifications
  • Soluble salt contamination
  • Maintenance painting in tight weather windows

Structural steel

Steel frames and fabricated structures protected to ISO 12944, shop-applied and touched up on site.

We review specifications, inspect at shop and site hold points and compile the documentation your client and your BS EN 1090 system need.

Typical challenges

  • Weld and edge preparation before blasting
  • Film build on complex sections
  • Overcoating windows and site conditions
  • BS EN 1090-2 documentation

Architectural aluminium

Curtain walling, facades, windows and feature metalwork, where colour, gloss and appearance are judged as closely as durability.

We set acceptance criteria and approved samples before production, inspect pretreatment and film build, and resolve appearance disputes with measured evidence.

Typical challenges

  • Colour and gloss consistency across batches
  • Pretreatment of aluminium before coating
  • Qualicoat requirements and audits
  • Site damage and touch-up

Industrial manufacturing

Pumps, valves, machinery and fabricated products, finished in the factory to a customer or industry specification.

We set up inspection and test plans that suit production, check preparation and film build on real parts, and help your team cut rework with clear procedures.

Typical challenges

  • Masking and coating complex castings
  • Consistent film build across production batches
  • Customer specifications and inspection points
  • Rework and rejects that eat into margin

Powder coating facilities

Powder, wet spray and multi-process finishing lines, from jobbing shops to scheme-approved applicators.

We have run quality at a multi-process finisher, so we speak your language: process control, lab checks, SOPs, audits and practical training on the line.

Typical challenges

  • Pretreatment and cure control
  • Rework, waste and recurring defects
  • Scheme and manufacturer audits
  • Training and retaining skilled finishers

Commercial construction

Offices, retail, schools and mixed-use buildings, where exposed steelwork, fire protection and finishes meet on one programme.

We inspect at the shop and on site, keep damage and repairs under control while other trades work, and give the main contractor a clear record at handover.

Typical challenges

  • Exposed steel that must look right as well as last
  • Intumescent fire protection on the frame
  • Trades working over finished coatings
  • Snagging and repairs before handover

Protective coating contractors

Blast and paint contractors who want independent checks, procedures and training that help them pass inspection first time.

We give contractors an independent second pair of eyes: written procedures, pre-start checks and practical training for the crew, so the work passes the client's inspection first time.

Typical challenges

  • Passing the client's inspection first time
  • Method statements and inspection and test plans
  • Consistent applicator skills across the crew
  • Records that prove the work was done right
